Blind Eagle, a suspected Spanish-speaking cyber espionage group, has been linked to a new attack chain leading to the deployment of the NjRAT remote access trojan.
This attack chain involves the use of spear-phishing lures to deliver malware, a JavaScript downloader to execute a PowerShell script, and a VBScript to achieve persistence.
The final stage is the execution of njRAT which gives the holder of the program control of the user’s computer.
Blind Eagle has targeted entities in Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, and Spain.
