The so-called masterminds behind the $100 million cryptocurrency pyramid scheme AirBit Club are headed to the big house after pleading guilty to fraud and money laundering charges.
Senior promoters Cecilia Millan and Karina Chairez aggressively pushed bogus investments, while shady lawyer Scott Hughes helped wash the dirty proceeds.
In total over $100 million in ill-gotten gains were ordered forfeited, including cash, crypto, and real estate.
Authorities say the scam promised guaranteed profits from crypto mining and trading, but just try getting your money out.
Turns out guaranteed profits aren’t so guaranteed after all.
Looks like the only coins these fraudsters will be mining are license plates.
