CoinEx Crypto Exchange Hit by $28 Million Exploit

On September 12, 2023, CoinEx experienced a suspected hack.

According to blockchain security firm Cyvers, the breach resulted in losses exceeding $27 million across the hot wallets.

This comes after James sued CoinEx for allegedly falsely representing itself as a crypto exchange and failing to register with the state of New York.

The exchange affirms that the impacted funds represent a small fraction of its total assets.

It assures customers that their funds will be safe and untouched and that any affected users will be promptly and thoroughly compensated.

In addition, the company explains that it has resolved its June 2023 settlement with New York Attorney General Letitia James.
