Brace yourself for a tidal wave of chatGPT email scams
Undergraduate computer science students are running an experiment to see if AI chatbot scams are better at persuading victims to respond or click on links than the usual spam. The potential risk of these large language models (LLMs) is that they can automate the labor-intensive process of persuading people to send money, making financial scams more profitable than ever. LLMs are being jailbroken and used to create personalized scams, and defense is not yet able to catch up, leading to a decrease in signal-to-noise ratio.
