Bezos Blasts Off As Amazon Launches First Internet Satellites

Amazon is finally joining the space race this week.

Jeff Bezos’ retail giant will launch its first two Project Kuiper internet satellites on Friday aboard a ULA Atlas V rocket.

Liftoff is targeted for 2pm ET from Cape Canaveral.

This test launch marks Amazon’s long-awaited entry into the satellite broadband market to compete with SpaceX’s Starlink and others.

Engineers will monitor KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2 closely as they deploy from the rocket at 311 miles up and begin transmitting signals back to Earth.

While there’s no guarantee of success, Bezos and his team feel confident thanks to extensive lab testing here on terra firma.

But they know nothing beats real-world data from actual satellites in orbit.

Either way, it’s blastoff for Amazon’s broadband behemoth!
