“Asexual people, or “aces” for short, don’t experience sexual attraction. That doesn’t mean they don’t have romantic relationships or enjoy Whoopee. Some aces feel intense romantic attraction to someone, but not sexual attraction. Others fall somewhere in between.
There’s a wide range of asexual identities, and not all aces fit neatly into one category. Some people might identify as gray-ace, which means they experience sexual attraction rarely or only under certain circumstances. Others might identify as demi-sexual, which means they only experience sexual attraction after forming a strong emotional connection with someone.
It’s important to remember that asexual people are just as diverse as any other group of people. They come from all walks of life and have all sorts of different interests and experiences. So next time you meet someone who identifies as ace, don’t be afraid to ask them about their identity. And for the love of Pete, don’t try to “fix” them.”
