Apple is reportedly testing an upgraded version of its M2 Ultra chip called the M3 Ultra with a higher GPU and a bigger CPU.
The company is so impressed with what the new chips can do that it is pushing the price of its next-gen Mac Pro up to $1,000.
That’s quite a bit pricier than the $799 entry-level Mac Pro. Gurman also mentions in his Power On newsletter that the company is considering adding support for GPUs in the future as part of its efforts to make its products more power-hungry.
GPUs on the Mac 2 Ultra series of chips are already very powerful, and they’re about to get even more powerful in the next generation of the Mac CPUs.
