Ackerman claims that the makers of the 2023 Apple TV Plus film Tetris copied the feel and content of his book The Tetris Effect, which he wrote years ago.
The Verge reports that a similar lawsuit is pending against Apple and the Tetris Company.
Gizmodo editor-in-chief Daniel Ackerman has sued Apple and others involved in the remake of the classic Tetris game for allegedly ripping off his novel The Tetrous Effect.
According to Reuters, the suit relies heavily on arguing that Tetris copies the feel of The Tetrius Effect.
Apple and the company did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Verge.
It appears that The Verge may have a difficult case because both Tetris and The Tetrid Effect are based on real historical facts, which are not protected by copyright law.
