Apple releases security updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Safari to address zero

Apple released security updates on April 10, 2023 to address two zero-day vulnerabilities that were being actively exploited.

The first was a use after free issue in WebKit that could lead to arbitrary code execution and the second was an out-of-bounds write issue in IOSurfaceAccelerator that could enable an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.

The updates are available in iOS 16.4.1, iPadOS 16.4.1, macOS Ventura 13.3.1, and Safari 16.4.1 and span a wide range of devices, including older iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

The patches were discovered and reported by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group and Donncha Ó Cearbhaill of Amnesty International’s Security Lab.
