But they were saved by the quick thinking of ground control and the crew’s ability to improvise. They used the lunar landing module as a lifeboat, rationed their water and food, and even MacGyvered a way to remove carbon dioxide from the air. In the end, they made it back to Earth safely, and Tom Hanks got to say the immortal line “Houston, we have a problem.”
