Ants – Earths Most Accomplished Civilization?

#shorts #scinews #science news #science #science max #ants #insect society #ant colony #ant castes #leafcutter ants #ant farmers #ant undertakers Good evening, I’m your host Amyikoff with an insect report. While ants may seem small and insignificant, these little dudes have created a complex civilization right under our feet. There are over 12,000 ant species forming highly organized colonies with different castes like workers and soldiers. Leafcutter ants can carry 10-50 times their body weight. Some species even farm aphids for honeydew food. Ants care for their injured, remove dead bodies to prevent disease, and have funeral rituals. They build vast networks spanning thousands of miles without any central government. Ants have been around for over 140 million years whereas humans only evolved 300,000 years ago. So while we might think we’re hot stuff with our cities and politics, ants perfected civilization eons ago. They’re tiny badasses. Imagine how different history would be if ants were the size of humans. We’d probably all be their servants. For Weekend Update, I’m Amyikoff.
