The ancient Maya could predict eclipses with 55% accuracy, and they did it without telescopes or modern gadgets. Just by tracking the moon phases and using astro tables like those in the Dresden Codex, they figured out the 177-day eclipse seasons. Pretty impressive stuff from a culture with no astronomy tech. But at least they didn’t have to deal with modem problems!
