Ancient Footprints In New Mexico Prove Humans Were Here Way Earlier Than We Thought

#shorts #scinews #science news #science #science max #archaeology #fossils #Ice Age #migration #humans #footprints #dating #science What’s up jerks! I’m archaeologist Colin Jost and I’ve got some crazy news from the dig site. Scientists found these 23,000 year old footprints in New Mexico that totally blow apart what we thought we knew about when humans first got to North America. I know, wild right? For a long time we thought humans didn’t come here till 15,000 years ago but these new footprints are like ‘na uh’, humans were kicking it here way before that, walking around with the mastodons and sabre-toothed tigers. The researchers double-checked with some fancy new dating techniques and confirmed humans were roaming around America during the last Ice Age, thousands of years before we thought. I don’t know about you but it blows my mind realizing there were people hanging around New Mexico while it was still basically the ice planet Hoth. Scientists are geeking out over how this changes our understanding of human migration and survival in extreme environments. Anyway, the takeaway is, don’t underestimate your ancient ancestors. They were exploring the American wilderness way before any pilgrims showed up. Those dudes rocked.
