Proteus is just one of a new batch of robots rolling into Amazon’s fulfillment centers.
According to the company, the robots date back to the first Kiva machines and are part of a wider shift in the balance between automation and people in the fulfillment industry.

The company claims that the robots could bring about a company-wide — and industry-wide—shift in the power between automation AND people.
Fulfillment centers have been robot factories since the early 1900s, but this new generation of robots represents a significant advance in automation and reduction in human labor.
