Amazon undercut Microsoft by offering free access to its AI coding assistant.

Amazon has announced that its CodeWhisperer AI-powered coding assistant is now available for free to all individual developers, undercutting the pricing of its Microsoft-made rival.

CodeWhisperer is an integrated development environment (IDE) which generates lines of code based on a text-based prompt, and it supports several languages including Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C

#. It also comes with security scanning features and filters out any potentially biased or unfair code. Microsoft-owned GitHub and Google’s DeepMind have similar tools, but CodeWhisperer is now the only free one available.
