Advanced cyber attacks by a charming kitten are targeting Iranian dissidents.

Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) has warned of cyber attacks that it believes will target Iranian citizens and organizations until 2022.

The agency blames the attacks on a threat actor called Charming Kitten, also known as APT35, Mint Sandstorm, TA453, Yellow Garuda, or APT 35 under the names APT34, Mint sandstorm, Tap35, Talos, Tip35, Red Bull, and Yellow Grazing.

According to the BfV, these attacks mainly target dissident organizations and individuals inside and outside Iran.

It does not have specific information on the number of victims but says that they have been mostly attacked by lawyers, journalists, and human rights activists.
