The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has blocked Microsoft’s proposed $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard due to concerns that it could reduce innovation and choice for UK gamers.
Microsoft had attempted to address these concerns by signing cloud gaming deals with rival services, but the CMA found that the agreements had significant shortcomings.
Microsoft has expressed disappointment with the decision and will appeal it.
