RansomHouse and Phobos have teamed up to create a new ransomware threat called 8Base.
It’s pretty easy to figure out: its code is exactly the same as RansomHouse’s Welcome page , and it infects all sorts of people in a wide variety of industries.
That said, 8Base does seem to be increasing in activity in May and June of 2023 due to a massive spike in activity during that time period.
What’s more, the attackers are using the same ransomware samples from both Phobos and Ransomhouse.
No one can tell yet whether 8Base is an offshoot of Phobos or another ransomware group called Phobos but it sure looks like it’s been active for some time.
